Like many DJs, I got into the business because of my love of music.
For over twelve years I’ve been hosting a radio show, the Low Tide Lounge, on WOMR, broadcasting from Provincetown, MA. For the past seven years I have been professionally DJing weddings, school dances, benefits, birthday & anniversary parties.
MY APPROACH
It’s your party. This means there should be NO surprises in terms of the music played AND the interactive style of the DJ at your event. DJ style is important: perhaps you want a high visibility, very interactive approach, perhaps you prefer a DJ with a lower profile; it’s your party, you get to choose.
The perfect playlist. This needs to be done with your input. Typically, with a new client I’ll try to get a feel for the kinds of music you like by asking you to give me a list of five songs you love and, just as important, five songs you don’t like at all. From here I begin the process of building the playlist; three days before the party the playlist is finalized and approved by you the customer. I also compile a “DO NOT PLAY” list based on the client’s requests.
I am not a performer. I show up at your party with a huge collection of music, great equipment, a smile for all I come in contact with, and, most importantly, a talent for reading the dance floor.
